Air Force Two is not technically a plane. It is the radio callsign used by any United States Air Force aircraft carrying the Vice President of the United States. As soon as the Vice President steps aboard an Air Force plane, that plane is referred to as Air Force Two by the crew and all air traffic controllers, in order to avoid confusion with other planes in the area. Currently, the most commonly used aircraft for Air Force Two is a modified Boeing 757.
The President’s plane is called Air Force One.
