In the seventh Declassified book, New Orleans braces for another major hurricane heading her way. Following a tip, agent Jack Bauer has come to the Big Easy—and watches helplessly as two prime players representing America's most dangerous Latin American adversaries fall in a surprising hail of gunfire. With winds rapidly approaching gale force, the CTU operative must now follow the blood trail to a completely unexpected source. Because in less than 24 hours, a ruthless enemy hiding among "friends" plans to take out the already damaged Crescent City—and deliver a staggering blow from which the U.S. may never recover. The storyline for this book is great - and really different from any other Declassified book. Jack Bauer, working in New Orleans, has to investigate the affairs of a stripper due to her connections with a man with terrorist ties. His mission leads him... well actually Jack doesn't do all that much in this book. The majority of it he is followin up leads in cars and sitting around waiting for things to happen. But trust me, it's still a good read: other stuff happens too! |

Characters Lots of new characters are intertwined in the story, which involves no characters from anything else to do with 24. Peter Malo is his partner, a New Orleans resident assisting him on capturing Hector Beltran, the main villian for the novel. He is helped by many other villians, such as Colonel Paz, a kingpin who Beltran tries to assassinate after he thinks that Paz betrayed him. When the assassination fails, Paz goes on a mission to elimate Beltran, and tracks down a cell he controls, led by a man who leads him to Beltran. Cal Randolph is the boss of CTU's Gulf Regional Coast Centre, where the action is based. He helped Jack and Pete out on their missions. Also mixed in the events is Vikki Valence, a stripper at the Golden Pole men's club. As Paz's girlfriend she get's caught up in the events of the assassination attempt. |

24 Relevance When I first started reading this book, I did not like the style of writing; almost every chapter takes place in just location, rather than switching to many like on the TV show. However, once I got around four chapters in, I realised that it was a much easier way of following the story, and rather than including other, unrelated stories the plot kept simple, which made it much better to follow. Plus, most of the chapters remained similar length, as opposed to some of the other odd ones in different books. The only chapter that was shorter was #24, shown to the right, which was just a paragraph long. However, I think this worked for this novel. |
